About Dr. Haysman
Melvin L. Haysman, M.D. has been in private allergy practice for over 30 years. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. Following this he completed a straight medicine internship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and an internal medicine residency at the Medical College of Georgia. He then completed a two-year fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Duke University.
Dr. Haysman is board certified by both the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. He is a Fellow in the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the American College of Chest Physicians. In addition, he is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, the Joint Council of Allergy and Immunology, and the Southeastern Allergy Association.
Dr. Haysman has served as President of the Alumni Association at the Medical College of Georgia and as Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine at Candler General Hospital.
Dr. Haysman currently holds a faculty appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia. In addition, he is on staff at St. Joseph’s Candler Health System and Memorial University Medical Center. He has conducted numerous research studies to better the quality and safety of patient care. Dr. Haysman has also authored scientific papers and book chapters on various topics in Allergy, Immunology, and Pulmonology. He frequently lectures about allergic, immunologic, and respiratory diseases to physicians, healthcare students, and fellow citizens in our community.
Dr. Haysman served in the Army Reserve for almost 10 years. He is an active patient advocate and was recently featured in USA Today as one of the most influential doctors in asthma.
